ONE-OF-A-KIND TIPS FOR SELECTING THE PRISTINE ITALIAN WHITE MARBLE.

Italian white marble is unquestionably one of the most widely used and sought after natural stones in the world for centuries. From its use in sculptures to adorning homes or to give an office area an extraordinary feel; white marble is known to transform any space into an embodiment of luxury. Apart from being the most desired material, its perfect selection, usage and installation are also equally important. So, here are the dos and don’ts for making the right choice when it comes to white marble.

Tip 1: Know you options

They say "You won’t find anything as white in nature as white marble" and we completely agree with it. The Quarry Gallery displays some of the most sought after white marble collections in the world. From the stunning Statuarietto, Colorado White, Bianco Lasa, to the timeless Carrara marble, you can choose any of these one-of-a-kind stones for your luxurious home and office spaces.

Tip 2: Choose the perfect application

Every white marble slab is different, and so are its applications. With the help of our curators, you can plan what your finished application will look like. They will guide you to make the correct selection based on your requirement and space. You can choose a white marble that can be bookmatched across a seamless application. It is important to artfully place the marble pieces so that it all comes together like a one-of-a-kind painting.

Tip 3: Make the most of your selection

As you know natural stone is largely used on kitchen countertops and backsplashes. Unfortunately these are also the spaces where it is more likely to get stained. Then how can the classic white marble be an apt choice? It's because acidic kitchen liquids like lemon juice or vinegar can etch marble, leaving a dull, whitish mark behind. These marks or stains are clearly visible on coloured marble pieces compared to white marble.

At The Quarry, we don’t want you to worry about stains. The Quarry Densification process makes our slabs highly stain resistant. A chemical that our research team has exclusively developed goes 4mm deep from all the six sides of the stone slab, making sure that whatever liquid spills does not seep in. It makes the stone almost impervious to stains and gives it the opportunity for re-polishing in future. We confidently recommend the breath-taking Statuario or Calacatta Manhattan for designing a spotless kitchen.

Tip 4: Understand the details – white marble and its veins.

Different types of veining patterns can be achieved on the slab by cutting it in different ways. Cross or fleuri cut, results in slabs with an "open flowered pattern,” which is ideal for book-matching. The vein or striato cut slices the block the other way to achieve a linear or striped appearance.

Tip 5: Understand the various finishes

With innovation in technology, there are now more than one ways to finish a slab, including various brushing & polishing techniques. You can go for the orange-peel-like texture, which is called a lether, brushed, or a river-wash finish. Or even go for the most widely used, polished which looks glossy or the honed finish which gives the marble a matt appearance. Also, accurate and slightly curved edging can take the sharpness off a 90-degree corner and prevent its chipping. The "bull's nose" style of edging in which the edge has the profile of a half-circle, is a timeless favourite and is also highly functional.

Tip 6: Know the origin of your chosen slab

It is important to know where your marble comes from, as it affects its usage and lifespan post-application. Our curators travel across 31 countries in the world to bring you the rarest and the purest natural stones to choose from. Each curator is well-equipped with the knowledge of each slab at our temperature-controlled The Quarry Gallery.

There is so much more we would like to tell you when it comes to choosing the right white marble. If you are redesigning your home or office space we insist you get in touch with The Quarry Curators first.
