Stronger Together: A Celebration Of Women Shaping Design

At The Quarry, Mumbai, we believe that great design isn’t just created, it’s cultivated through dialogue, diversity and daring ideas. True to that spirit, we’ve always championed more than just curating the world’s most exceptional natural stones. We’ve championed people. The ones who shape, imagine and redefine the spaces we live in. And Stronger Together is a celebration of exactly that.

A ONE OF ITS KIND EXCHANGE. A FIRST OF ITS KIND POWERFUL DIALOGUE ACROSS GENERATIONS.

Launched in 2024, Stronger Together was envisioned as a platform where visionary women in architecture and design come together with young, passionate students to exchange ideas, experiences and aspirations. Why women? Because across the world and especially in the design industry, women have long been the unseen force. The steady hand. The bold mind. The quiet disruptor. Their contributions often go unspoken. At The Quarry, we believe it’s time they don’t.

That belief shaped Stronger Together not just as an event, but as a movement to honour creativity, mentor the next generation and ignite conversations that matter. The first edition sparked honest dialogues and unforgettable connections. This year, it returned bolder, deeper and even more impactful.

Held across The Quarry Gallery and The Quarry CO:LAB, India’s most luxurious spaces for discovering Italian marble, granite and onyx, Stronger Together Season 2 brought together six dynamic duos. Each featured a leading architect or interior designer paired with a student from ISDI Mumbai, offering a rare opportunity to step into the minds and journeys of some of the most formidable women in design today.

Together, they explored design thinking, material innovation, creative risk and the evolving role of natural materials in luxury interiors. But at the heart of this exchange was something more personal. A moment of shared joy when each architect selected a favourite natural stone from The Quarry collection. The students not only gained access to brilliant insights but also received a hands-on understanding of natural stone, its purpose, potential and poetry.

Let’s take a sneak peek into these enriching conversations and find out which natural stones topped the list of these architects and why.

RICHA BAHL & AARYA BAGAD

Founder of Richa Bahl Design Studio, Richa Bahl is known for crafting spaces that are bold, eclectic and deeply personal. In her session with Aarya Bagad, a young design aspirant, Richa shared thoughtful advice that a place should be collected and not decorated. A conversation that unfolded not just as a mentor moment but as a powerful reflection on how material choices shape spatial experiences.
As they walked through The Quarry Gallery Mumbai, one natural stone called out to her instinctively. The Quarry curated Sodalite.
A rare granite from South America, The Quarry curated Sodalite is a visual symphony of deep, celestial blues laced with delicate white intrusions and electric-thin veins. It is a full-bodied natural marvel, as expressive as it is elegant. Its visual appeal through colour exudes strength and quiet confidence all at once. Used in highlight walls, tabletops and bath spaces, Sodalite is one of those few natural stones that instantly commands a room. It doesn’t whisper luxury; it speaks it fluently.

KUMPAL VAID AND MISHIKA BABBAR

The creative force behind Purple Backyard, Kumpal Vaid, brings a distinct sense of balance, form and warmth to every space she creates. In her session with Mishika Babbar, a passionate student, the conversation turned reflective and refreshingly honest. She said that over the years she had learnt the craft of using Italian marble really well.

Her natural stone of choice at The Quarry is Zurich. A stunning quartzite from South America, The Quarry curated Zurich immediately stands out with its natural sophistication and metamorphic appeal. Its surface is marked by an abundance of brown, white and grey veining, making it a versatile yet luxurious choice for both interiors and exteriors. Whether it’s used in flooring, kitchen countertops, or as a statement wall, its opulence brims when backlit and rich textures turn into glowing art.

SHONALI MAHAJAN AND AZRA ALWARE

The Principal Interior Architect at Studio Wodehouse Interior Design, Shonali Mahajan met with Azra Alware, a curious and ambitious design student. An inspiring blend of design stories where creative choices and the thrill of experimentation emerged. For Shonali Mahajan, material choices are not just aesthetic decisions, they’re emotional, tactile and immersive.
And one natural stone that truly spoke to her was The Quarry curated Avocado Vert. Born from the quarries of Brazil, this exotic granite is 100% natural with a rich personality. Deep, warm green tones mingle with white and black accents that swirl effortlessly across the slab, forming dramatic yet grounded compositions. This natural stone is as unique as it is adaptable. Perfect for highlight walls, tabletops and other interior features, The Quarry’s Avocado Vert brings the calm of nature indoors.

EKTA RAJPUT & ANDREA RACHEL ROSE

At The Quarry Gallery Mumbai and The Quarry CO:LAB, Ekta Rajput, the Principal Architect at Greenhatch Architects, engaged in a delightful and layered exchange with Andrea Rachel Rose. Summing up her philosophy of crafting environments that marry functionality with grace and the subtle art of letting materials speak for themselves.

Ekta Rajput shared how she was drawn to The Quarry curated Onice Bianco. Curated from the finest quarries of Iran, Onice Bianco is an exquisite onyx with an icy white canvas and a uniformly fine structure. Ethereal in appearance and luminous in presence, this gleaming stone reveals its true brilliance when backlit, creating soft yet striking visual poetry. Whether used on feature walls or as highlights, The Quarry’s Onice Bianco transforms interiors into luxurious sanctuaries.

SHILPA KABRA & SIAN MENDONCA

Architect Shilpa Kabra of The Design Box met with Sian Mendonca from ISDI Mumbai in a session that bridged art, innovation and new-age thinking. For Sian, it was a lesson in how design can challenge norms, embrace the future and still remain deeply human.

Shilpa Kabra’s natural stone of choice was The Quarry curated Lusso Macchiato, a beautiful granite from South America that is as bold as it is balanced. With sweeping veins in coffee tones that are unique to each slab, The Quarry curated Lusso Macchiato makes a statement across kitchen countertops, walls and bath spaces. Its ability to uplift both interiors and exteriors makes it a perfect fit for luxury homes. Filled with character and versatile in application, this exotic granite awaits you in Mumbai.

KASTURI WAGH & SATAKSHI SIWAL

The Principal Architect at Kaviar Collaborative, Kasturi Wagh believes that every space is a canvas for storytelling. In her dialogue with Satakshi Siwal, a budding design voice from ISDI Mumbai, the focus was on how every environment can reflect individual identity without losing its sense of form or function.

And one natural stone stood out as a clear favourite. The Quarry curated Calacatta Viola. An extraordinary creation from Italy, Calacatta Viola captivates at first glance and is no longer far from reach as it is now available in Mumbai at The Quarry Gallery. Its refined combination of white with bold, wine-hues steals the show. These organic strokes slice across the surface like brushstrokes on a masterpiece, each unpredictable, each full of drama. Whether used in bath spaces or as a kitchen countertop, Calacatta Viola brings an old-world opulence with a contemporary soul.
