First question first – Is Quartz and Quartzite the same? The answer is NO! The biggest difference being, quartz slabs are man-made material, whereas quartzite is a natural stone. Quartzite is a hard, metamorphic rock which is originally pure quartz sandstone. Don’t get confused with the word quartz here. Sandstone is converted into quartzite through heating and pressure usually related to tectonic compression deep within the earth’s crust.
